Dispatch has been getting a ton of recognition lately, especially thanks to The Game Awards 2025. A fourth ending has been discovered in the game’s source code, and the developers called to our attention that we didn’t complete the game yet. The thing is that the developers were confident that this was an accessible ending, but in reality some of the important triggers of the game to get it just don’t work. Implementations like this often ruin surprises, but at least it got the community together in some sort of hunt for the “Tactician” ending on Dispatch.
Dispatch has unreachable ending
Triggers and flags in visual novels are the bane of many as they often decide who you end up with and what endings you end up getting. Tactician as an ending is tied to hacking but it seems that the connection between the requirement and the flag in the game hasn’t been completed and the code feels like unused. This was however meant to be on the final game, but perhaps due to a miscalculation in the code and the variables it just got mixed up with other things. It is clear that the only way to get it right now is to wait for an update.
This is an advantage we have today, the fact that developers can roll updates to their games and Dispatch is no different than others. Thanks to the fact that our medium has become digital updates can roll out with ease instead of having to develop more cartridges again. However that’s the only advantage of digital over physical, because the list of disadvantages is too big to ignore and it can go as far as you losing access to your games. While AdHoc isn’t interested in revoking game licenses there’s always a game studio or publisher who aims to do that.
