Disney is working on a hugely ambitious Star Wars title which, in the company’s own words, will provide a “groundbreaking game experience that will herald the next generation of Disney to the world”, which should be great news for all Star Wars fans. The entertainment studio is currently in the process of hiring someone in the position of Assistant Art Director for it’s Digital Entertainment division to work on the “ambitious and exciting new project.”
“Working with top-class industry talent, this role is perfect for the seasoned visionary leader looking to create something epic–guiding and collaborating with a robust group of creative and production leaders focused around a wonderfully rich and cohesive product that is truly Disney,” the studio stated.
And according to Disney, the candidate will be someone who “inspires and informs our development teams to deliver the most authentic world-class Star Wars experiences.” The person will also have to be someone who can effectively “shape the overall visual direction, safeguard IP integrity, and foster creative collaboration across internal and external teams.” Also, besides having “deep understanding of Star Wars lore,” the successful candidate will be “ensuring all assets meet our brand and quality standards”.
The extensive job requisition does point towards a Star Wars game that’s in development by Disney and could be developed externally, as Disney doesn’t really do any internal game development and prefers to license many of it’s brands to external development teams instead.
And while this specific Star Wars project is currently a mystery, it’s known at this point that some of the in-development Star Wars titles include Star Wars Eclipse which is a remake of Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: Zero Company, a third Star Wars Jedi game by Respawn among others. It’s also rumored that developer Creative Assembly is currently making a Star Wars game which might be revealed at the upcoming The Game Awards show on December 11.
