The original horror collaboration that helped define Dead by Daylight is nearing its end. Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that the Michael Myers-based Halloween Chapter will be removed from the game’s store permanently on January 19, 2026. This marks the conclusion of a nearly ten-year licensing agreement that introduced the iconic Killer, The Shape, and the central Survivor, Laurie Strode, into the multiplayer horror game. Players now have a limited window to acquire this content.
The removal affects the entire Chapter DLC, which first brought the slasher legend into the game in October 2016. This set a key standard for the game’s future licensed expansions. In addition to the characters, the Haddonfield map and the Strode Realty Key will also become unavailable in the Bloodweb for all players after the deadline. The license expiration coincides with the ongoing development of a standalone Halloween title from IllFonic, slated for release in September 2026. This suggests the rights holders are focusing the franchise’s video game presence.
Players who already own Michael Myers and Laurie Strode will still be able to play these characters and use any related cosmetic items indefinitely. However, those who have not yet purchased the content need to hurry. The January 19th date is the last chance to buy the Chapter. To help with this, the game will offer the Killer, the Survivor, and all related cosmetics at a 50 percent discount leading up to the final day. Players should note that while the functionality of the characters’ teachable perks will stay the same, their in-game names will be changed to conform to the end of the license.
The loss of the Halloween content marks a significant change for Dead by Daylight. The game initially gained recognition partly due to its successful horror collaborations. Michael Myers played a key role in setting the standard for licensed content that has since become a hallmark of the game. While this chapter ends for one major franchise crossover, the game’s future still focuses on licensed material. A second Stranger Things expansion has been announced to help fill the gap left by one of the foundational Chapter packs.
