Developer CD Projekt Red has recently posted a cryptic message on their official Twitter/X page, possibly teasing a new update for the seminal Cyberpunk 2077 which is also turning five years old this December 10. The message from the devs includes an image titled “Cyberpunk 2077 Birthday and Anniversary Calendar”, listing the acclaimed open world title’s release date along with it’s upcoming fifth anniversary.
The calendar also has image of Soloman Reed, played by Idris Elba, strangely marked for December 12 and Songbird who is marked for December 29. No further info was given by the devs, creating a sense of mystic around Cyberpunk 2077, probably hinting on upcoming new content drops on those dates.
However, fans have already made up multiple interesting theories around the message and some of them suggest there may be a new update in the pipeline for Cyberpunk 2077 which will launch on it’s fifth anniversary date along with possible lore drops as well. But whatever it may turn out to be, at least we won’t have to wait much longer to find out as December 10 is just over a week from now.
The great thing about Cyberpunk 2077’s patches or post-game updates is that they don’t just come with the standard set of bug fixes and other quality of life improvements, the updates also bring entire new contents that enrich the overall gameplay experience in unexpected ways. For example, one of the previous patches of Cyberpunk 2077 brought lots of new customization options and made Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves, appear next to the player character way more frequently, which increased the overall immersion of the game by a landslide.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also confirmed to have sold a staggering 35 million copies, easily earning the status of a modern classic and one of the best titles made in the current era of gaming. And the fact that the game still has a highly active and engaging playerbase is a testament to it’s lasting impact and popularity.
