The recent GTA 6 delay where the release date of Rockstar’s upcoming Open World behemoth has been moved to November 19, 2026, has provided breathing room for a lot of AAA heavy hitters slated to release next year and one of them is IO Interactive’s 007: First Light. The James Bond title is confirmed to arrive on March 27, 2026 which would’ve been just two months before the arrival of the mighty GTA 6, had Rockstar didn’t delay the game recently.
And while releasing two months before GTA 6 would’ve still given the title and the players quite a sufficient window to become a smash hit but now as the newest entry to the legendary Grand Theft Auto franchise has been pushed way further, it’s a clear win for 007: First Light, among several other titles, of course.
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, IO Interactive CEO CEO Hakan Abrak suggested that the delay of GTA 6 has indeed made things a lot more welcome for 007: First Light. “It would be a lie not to say that obviously spring looks really good,” he stated.
“I want to say in the same breath that GTA 6 is a welcome thing for the industry. I do believe a lot of gamers who maybe haven’t played for a while will get into things again, and generally for the industry as a whole, I think that will be amazing.”
As GTA 6 has just moved out of the way, it’s clear that not only 007: First Light but a lot of other titles will greatly benefit in more ways than one. Which is also what they actually need as a colossal title like GTA 6 can easily eclipse just about everything for a really long time after it’s release.
The upcoming 007: First Light boasts an impressive, star studded cast of Dexter: Original Sin’s Patrick Gibson as the new James Bond, Fear the Walking Dead’s Lennie James as Bond’s mentor John Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny and Noémie Nakai as Miss Roth.
007: First Light will launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on March 27, 2026.
