Screamer is quite the amazing game for racing fans. PC gamers are awaiting the return of a classic that has been running since the 90s, as you can still buy Screamer 1 and 2 if you search them up on Steam. Gameplay has been revealed and the mechanics are quite unique, for starters, drifting is very different in this game compared to the others, and there’s a lot of mechanics that feel on a similar wavelength to those shown in series like F-Zero. Screamer reinvents the franchise by rebooting things entirely and giving it a whole different look that makes it feel fresh.
Screamer goes wild
Understanding mechanics is key to winning, and also finding your characters in the team will be crucial to decide how you play. Each team is comprised by a leader and two members, the members are more oriented towards a playstyle that feels more beginner friendly and fight oriented. The leaders on the other hand are race oriented and will feel good on the hands of someone experience with this kind of games. Fighting is an important mechanic, knowing how to defend and when to attack is crucial to survive the wild races that happen on Screamer.
Cars are designed in such a way that they are divided into beginner and more advanced, so if you really are new to these kinds of games perhaps you should pick member cars. Still, there is a time where you will need to come in contact with how leader cars work if you wish to stand on top of the circuit. The Echo is energy that you will need to manage properly since this is combat racing too, you can shield and you can attack, Echo recharges as you race and get in the groove. Along with this, there’s the twin stick drift system which is quite the innovation Screamer did, so far, the game is looking very good.
