Polish developer Bloober Team plans to turn its latest survival horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn, into a major, multi-faceted intellectual property in the coming years. The Tencent-backed studio recently launched the title on September 5 and confirmed its goals for the brand’s future. The studio intends to create new original works alongside its well-known remakes, like the upcoming Silent Hill 2. This announcement clearly positions Cronos as a long-term asset in the company’s portfolio.
During a recent investor Q&A session, the management for the studio stated that they definitely plan to revisit the Cronos IP and expand it across many areas. While this hints at interest in media adaptations beyond gaming, the core Cronos development team will focus on a separate, unannounced project in the near future. When discussing additional content, the developer clarified that while no downloadable content (DLC) is currently being worked on, they do not rule it out for the future. This careful approach suggests the studio is prioritizing a long-term brand strategy over quick post-launch content cycles.
The studio’s commitment to expanding the IP comes from the game’s perceived commercial success. Bloober Team described the launch of Cronos: The New Dawn as a huge success, expecting it to generate significant profits and strengthen the company’s position in the competitive horror market. Financial reports offered insight into the game’s performance on platforms, showing that console sales have greatly outpaced those on PC. According to the studio, sales on Steam accounted for about 25% of copies sold, indicating strong adoption on PlayStation and Xbox.
Looking ahead, Bloober Team is already planning to boost the visibility of the new IP. The studio confirmed it is planning various cross-promotional activities and discussing multiple marketing activities, particularly around the upcoming Halloween season. When asked about a possible collaboration between Cronos: The New Dawn and the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake, the company was indirect but confirmed that cross-promotional efforts are part of their future strategy. This suggests that while developing a sequel may take time, the Cronos brand will remain an active and promoted part of Bloober Team’s lineup.
