Battlestate Games made this official announcement about the institutionally persistent and notoriously addicting extraction shooter – Escape from Tarkov for consoles. Chief Operating Officer of the company, Nikita Buyanov, made the announcement during the post-event battle recaps, preparing for what promises to be the largest opening for the franchise yet. It arrives as the PC copy of the game is set to exit its beta period, with raving anticipation hanging about the date of release 1.0 on November 15, which will also usher it onto the Steam platform.
Essentially reversing one of Buyanov’s earlier, playful statements about how the game would only arrive after a Game Boy port was the console confirmation. While COO failed to mention which platforms would receive the title, there seems to be a consensus that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S would be the most probable destinations for this move, should it get there anytime soon. This fulfills the long standing demand of the community and does reflect a hint from a 2020 statement of a former Battlestate developer suggesting that the idea for a console port was under consideration.
Further announcements have been made regarding the future deployment of content for the game after 1.0 launch. Battlestate revealed the first name for its major post-release content: “Scav Life.” The name seems to suggest that this add-on will be mainly directed at the game’s Scavenger faction, with new perspectives for players, new mechanics, or plenty of content related to this role. However, Buyanov clarified that Scav Life DLC will be developed “only after defining November 15th for the core game,” which candour has implied a window for release of no sooner than the second half of 2026. In the meantime, said players should look forward to “a couple of huge events” and the launch of a new location.
The IP’s long-term vision extends far beyond the immediate future of the main title. The studio confirmed that other spin-off games set in the Escape from Tarkov universe are now in pre-production. All those upcoming titles are said to act as spin-offs through different characters or mechanics associated within the existing lore. This way, the ideal core Escape from Tarkov experience would remain the main pillar of the franchise for many years while the team looks at different genres and interesting aspects of the war-torn fictional city.
