Treyarch Shows Off Black Ops 7's Multiplayer Maps

After its official reveal, Treyarch shared an initial look at the multiplayer map pool for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This included a detailed view of the main environments players will soon explore. The information was presented in a “Dev Talk” video, which showcased various map ideas and explained the design philosophy behind them.

Among the maps previewed, several stand out due to their unique visual and structural identities. One map resembles a “Guild facility building,” precariously perched on a rocky shore with visible damage. Another features a lively train station with pink walls, a striking change from the series’ usual muted colors. This design choice was highlighted when responding to a fan’s question about adding more color to the game’s visuals. A third map, “Homestead,” takes players to a snowy lakeside setting illuminated by the beautiful Aurora Borealis, featuring a destroyed Guild tank. The more futuristic-looking map, “Blackheart,” is also confirmed for the upcoming beta.

The team's here to talk MP maps in our new Dev Talk video, including:

Brittany Pirello and Matt Scronce from Treyarch noted that the maps follow a classic three-lane structure, a hallmark of the Black Ops series. A major goal for the design team was to create spaces where players can catch their breath between intense gunfights. They also reduced the use of manual doors in multiplayer, though some automated sliding doors will remain, paying homage to fan-favorite maps from previous games.

While the reveal gave a solid preview, it left some questions unanswered. The full list of launch maps and which of the teased maps will be the smaller “Strike” maps is still unclear. Fans can look forward to a more detailed reveal of the complete multiplayer experience on September 30 at the “Call of Duty Next” event. The initial look at these maps suggests a return to the classic Black Ops multiplayer feel, with a new look and fresh environments to master.
