Widely hailed as one of the most influential and genre-redefining titles ever, the original Deus Ex is getting a Remaster including full visual and gameplay overhaul that will arrive on February 5, 2026 for the PC, Playstaion 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Aspyr, the Remastered version of Ion Storm’s original Deus Ex is being termed as the “definitive version” that will contain “visual upgrades, modern enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements.”
So if you were a fan of the original title, it’s safe to say that you’ll really enjoy the upcoming remaster which will also enable those who haven’t played it before experience the classic for the first time in a modernized package.
“The year is 2052. Societies are teetering on collapse, plagues spread unchecked, and shadow governments shape the future. You are JC Denton—a nano-augmented UNATCO operative tasked with protecting order. But the deeper you dig, the more lies you uncover. What begins as a mission becomes a fracture point in human history,” reads the official description of Deus Ex Remastered’s story which is guaranteed to thrill players who love cyberpunk infused, post-modern storytelling with branched narrative.
The game’s official Steam page lists all the enhancements and technical upgrades included in the remaster such as Reimagined lighting, dynamic shadows, water physics, particle effects, fully updated textures, ragdoll physics with smoother lip-sync animations and more. Also, being a remaster and not a remake allows the devs to fully preserve the aesthetics and the overall neo-decor-cyberpunk vibe of the original while updating individual graphical elements to latest standards.
The new quality-of-life additions include Autosaves and faster loading, cloud saving and achievements. Deus Ex Remastered will also come with controller support on PC along with multi-screen support.
Overall it certainly looks like the upcoming Deus Ex Remastered will be offering a great trip down memory lane for players who experienced the 2000 classic while providing a compelling, albeit slightly dated (in terms of technical standards) but still unforgettable cyberpunk experience for gamers who will be playing it for the first time.
