Capcom has confirmed the full details of the much-anticipated Final Fantasy XIV collaboration coming to Monster Hunter Wilds. Title Update 3 will go live on Monday, September 29, 2025. The reveal occurred during the publisher’s spotlight event at Tokyo Game Show 2025. It shared specific content players can expect, highlighted by a tough encounter with one of the Final Fantasy franchise’s well-known superbosses. This update marks a significant addition for the action-RPG and continues a tradition of cross-universe events that excite fans.
At the heart of the Monster Hunter Wilds experience in this collaboration is a focused hunt against Omega Planetes, a fierce foe drawn directly from the mechanical beings in Final Fantasy. Hunters will face a creature boasting attack patterns similar to its digital counterpart. It will use the powerful Delta Attack and various complex projectiles, requiring skill and preparation from any hunting team. Success in this challenging battle will give players the materials needed to craft exclusive crossover rewards, including the powerful Dark Knight weapon and armor sets, along with the unique cosmetic item, the Soul of the Pictomancer. These additions provide both useful combat gear and appealing cosmetic options for dedicated players.
This collaboration is a two-way street, as Final Fantasy XIV will also receive content related to the event. Starting in early October, adventurers in Eorzea will face the formidable Guardian Arkveld, a massive monster from the Wilds ecosystem. Just as Wilds players can get FFXIV-themed gear, completing the Arkveld encounter in the MMORPG will reward players with weapons inspired by the beast and various cosmetic items. This ensures a solid offering for both communities.
While the FFXIV event brings immediate excitement, Capcom used the show to look ahead and tease Title Update 4, scheduled for release in December. This next update promises the return of the volcanic Elder Dragon, Gogmazios, a fan-favorite monster known for its devastating tar attacks and huge size. The roadmap indicates that the developer is committed to providing a steady stream of high-quality, challenging content to keep the Monster Hunter Wilds player base engaged through the rest of the year.
