Firaxis has always been in charge of current released in the Civilization series, with the release of Civilization VI it seems that PC players got tired of such a rush job at the company. This often happens because publishers rush developers into releasing a terrible product as quick as possible and they don’t give it enough time to fix it. We live in a terrible timeline for game developers, and an amazing one for publishers, because it is possible to just blame everything on the developer, since the average consumer always complains about the developer.
Firaxis got a huge personnel cut
This affects many people, mainly, those who were struggling to get a stable job. It is terrible to see such things happen because most of the time there’s no place to run after that happens. The world is getting more and more complex as each day passes and people aren’t able to take hold of any proper job opportunity that pays them enough. This is primarily done to protect the profits of corporations such as 2K, who are there to pretty much passively earn more than those who developed the game in the first place. It truly is a dark time to be a game developer in the triple A space.
Firaxis is a victim in this case, and after the confirmation of 2K, we already can assume who is the one that suppresses the victim. Dozens of honest workers forced to leave the company are dozens of mouths that will struggle to find a thing to feed upon. No matter how many layoff plans there are, or what is included into them, people need sustainable sources of income to live in our current state of things. Whenever you think of “blaming the devs” think for yourself for a moment and know who to redirect the blame to, Firaxis ain’t the target.
