Fatal Frame II is getting remade for 2026, and you can already wishlist it if you want to see it succeed in visibility. We can hope that Koei Tecmo does their best job with the PC port, they have been doing quite an amazing job lately when it comes to porting their games to PC. The Fatal Frame series is very dear to them, as it was their own foray into the horror genre with some moderate success but no particular mass appeal compared to things such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill. Even Dino Crisis is more recognized than Fatal Frame currently, which remains as a niche IP from a niche triple A company like Koei Tecmo is.
Fatal Frame II is coming back
Remakes are divisive, there’s no denying that, but if it gives a chance for a game to shine again to a new public, some fans who are desperate for attention will take anything, even if it destroys the vision of the original game. Nintendo always reveals the best games in their directs, and people should really connect to them if they wanna get real gaming news from a company that still seems to care about developing their first party titles with care and giving a space to other classics to thrive.
Fatal Frame II was a PS2 classic for some, and the series while being niche provides some sense of quality that cannot be found in the majority of horror games in the market as of now. Hopefully the identity is kept intact to counter the fiasco that the Silent Hill series is currently going through, not even Ryukishi07 can save the new entry, that being Silent Hill f, maybe its f for failure if you ask me since Silent Hill isn’t a combat focused series, it never was one of those games, Fatal Frame II Remake might succeed where Silent Hill 2 Remake couldn’t.
