Developer Gearbox has just released a new update for Borderlands 4 aimed at improving stability “for a wide range of PCs,” however there has been no official patch notes in this update so it’s currently up in the air as to how it’s going to affect the game’s performance. The devs have also released official and detailed optimization guides for both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs besides encouraging to install the latest drivers and use the suggested optimal visual settings included in the guides for better performance in Borderlands 4. Gearbox also posted this message in the game’s official Steam page:
“We hope you’re having a blast in Borderlands 4. The team is loving seeing you all shooting and looting your way through Kairos. Today we’re releasing a new update to help improve stability for a wide range of PCs.”
The devs also repeated their earlier advice of the players needing to wait 15 minutes after making changes in visual settings to actually gauge any kind of changes in performance:
“Please note that any time you change any of your graphics settings, your shaders will need to recompile; it may take up to 15 minutes for this process to fully complete.”
However, there are already several reports from players stating that the new patch hasn’t done anything to address the abysmal performance in Borderlands 4 yet, so if you’re currently playing the game, please make sure to apply the patch to find out if it runs any better now.
Gearbox also added at the end of their official message that they’re continuing to read player feedback and are working towards more updates, so here’s hoping they come up with some much needed patches that actually fix the myriads of performance issues players are currently having in Borderlands 4.
Borderlands 4 is currently at a ‘mixed’ review rating on Steam cause of numerous performance issues and technical problems. The general complaints from players are centered around the game’s unexpectedly low performance even on high-end PCs with reports of severe crashes that are stopping the game from even starting up.
