Activision and Treyarch have revealed the highly anticipated Zombies mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This announcement provides the first look at its story and a new lineup of characters. The reveal trailer starts a new chapter for the mode, which has been a fan favorite since its debut in Call of Duty: World at War.
The trailer features the returning Black Ops 6 team: Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mac Carver, and Maya Aguinaldo. They are transported from Janus Towers into the eerie Aether Dimension. Their celebration suddenly ends when a new, mysterious villain appears. Dressed in a cowboy hat and sunglasses, this antagonist uses caged skulls to steal the characters’ souls before vanishing, leaving them to face the undead in this new reality. The identity of this powerful enemy remains a central mystery, which will drive the story forward.
To confront this new danger, Treyarch has added a new set of playable characters, including classic characters updated for Black Ops 7. Players will be able to play as Takeo Masaki, a ronin; a new version of Tank Dempsey as a US Marine; Nikolai Belinsky, a Soviet tank commander; and Edward Richtofen, a doctor. This expansion of characters points to a bigger, more intricate narrative in the Zombies experience.
In addition to the Zombies mode, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 takes place in 2035, continuing the story from Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. The campaign follows David Mason’s team as they fight against a new, manipulative enemy. The game offers a cooperative campaign, a round-based Zombies mode set in the Dark Aether, and a broad multiplayer experience. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision, the game is scheduled for release on November 14 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. More details about the Zombies mode are expected soon.
