Ubisoft has announced a whole new survival extraction-based content titled Survivors for The Division 2, which is an “updated take” on the game’s existing survival-extraction elements and is currently in it’s early stages of development. The announcement also comes with a roadmap for The Division 2, ensuring new contents throughout the next few months and the confirmation to keep players of the game well in the loop during the entire development process.
The publisher has also brought back Magnus Jansén in the team for The Division 2: Survivors, who had been the creative director on the first title in the series. He also confirmed that he’s now back to the franchise and working on something really exciting:
“As some of you had already figured out, the wintery, survival extraction experience is coming to The Division 2,” Jansén stated during this year’s Gamescom panel. “I know some of you are, like me, fans of the survival mode that we had in the first Division, and obviously, we think that those of you who like that, will be very, very happy, but it’s more than a remake. We are doing cool, new things.”
And while a lot is currently unknown regarding the new content that’s headed to The Division 2, executive producer Julian Gerighty has said that they want to involve the community in the development process in some ways.
“The Division 2: Survivors is as much your baby as it is ours, and we strive for transparency during its development.”
“Clear communication and community involvement are a focus as we build the new experience, and we will be closely involving you as we move forward on the development journey.”
Ubisoft has also announced a new update regarding their upcoming free-to-play mobile RPG MMO The Division Resurgence which will undergo closed test phases for iOS and Android users in September and players interested to participate in the process are required to sign up at this link.
“The Division Resurgence takes players back to the streets of Manhattan, set several months after the conclusion of the Division 1,” the official description for the mobile title reads.
“With a familiar map updated to reflect the passage of time, the Division Resurgence will bridge the narrative gap between the Division 1 and 2, adding to the existing lore with additional story beats over time.”
