Ninja Gaiden 4

Ninja Gaiden 4 has received a new Story trailer showcasing some of the lore and characters in the upcoming hack-n-slash title, while also offering a tense face-off between returning protagonist the iconic Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo who’s the main protagonist in the upcoming game. The trailer also features the fast-paced and gory combat that’s a staple of the Ninja Gaiden series along with multiple new characters and bosses with whom Yakumo fights at different points in Ninja Gaiden 4.

We also get a new peek at the main plot of the game along with highlights on some of the secondary characters including bosses who will clearly play important roles in Ninja Gaiden 4’s story. And although the characterizations don’t seem like they are the strongest parts of the upcoming action title, they do feel perfectly adequate for the kind of experience the game is going for.

It also seems like Ninja Gaiden 4 is trying to take a similar route to what Devil May Cry 4 did with it’s new protagonist Nero and returning protagonist Dante–with both characters at odds for the most part of the game but eventually joining forces to take down the big bad near the end. And even though it may be a bit early to tell, the signs are definitely there, at least. Of course we’ll have to play the game to be sure but thankfully it won’t be long till it arrives.

Ninja Gaiden 4 also looks to bring a resurgence of the older fast-paced and stylish hack-n-slash genre which is a breath of fresh air in the cavalcade of the slower and methodical gameplay mold of the Soulslike titles that dominate the action genre today.

The fourth entry in the legendary hack-n-slash series, Ninja Gaiden 4 is scheduled to arrive on October 21 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC, and Game Pass. Developed in collaboration between Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja and Platinum Games, Ninja Gaiden 4 will feature a whole new character named Yakumo, besides returning protagonist the iconic Ryu Hayabusa.

Both editions of the game, the $70 Standard Edition and the $90 Deluxe Edition are currently up for pre-order at multiple online retailers (including both Best Buy and Walmart) and pre-ordering Ninja Gaiden 4 (both physical and digital copies) will also unlock a special in-game costume named the Dark Dragon Descendant skin for Yakumo.
