Ultizero Games, the developers for the PS5 and PC exclusive Lost Soul Aside has acknowledged the subpar performance of the title and has confirmed that they’re “actively working on optimizations” which will be rolled out in the form of multiple patches and updates in the near future. The recently released Action RPG came out on August 29 and is currently at a ‘Mixed’ Steam review rating by over 300 players with the majority of problems centered around the lackluster performance of the game.
The developers have quickly responded and have confirmed that they’re working on making Lost Soul Aside run a lot better than it does right now. They said:
“We have received your feedback regarding the performance of certain cutscenes in the prologue of *Lost Soul Aside*. Currently, some of these cutscenes are pre-rendered 4K/30fps videos, which may cause occasional stuttering during playback. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding. The *Lost Soul Aside* team is actively working on optimizations, and future updates will address this to deliver a smoother gameplay experience. “
“Thank you for your continued support and patience!”
In a separate post, the devs have also assured that they’re working to improve some of the gameplay and other control related issues for Lost Soul Aside as well:
“Lost Soul Aside fans – thanks for your incredible support! We’re listening and working on improved combat sound, better gamepad support, and smoother early-game progression. Updates coming soon, with more optimizations planned. We’re in this adventure together!”
While it’s certainly great to see developers responding swiftly and working to improve the overall experience, it’s also sad to see Lost Soul Aside continuing the trend of games releasing in a terribly unoptimized state and that the devs have to work on optimizing the game “after” it’s released. This is clearly a sharp decline from even a few years back when games came out in much better and in way more playable conditions.
