Publisher CI Games has confirmed that the full reveal of Lords of the Fallen 2 will happen at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. This sequel to the 2023 action RPG, which was a reboot of the original from 2014, has been generating excitement since its announcement. The game, currently being developed by Hexworks and built using Unreal Engine 5, aims to offer a broader range of content and improved gameplay for a new generation of players. This announcement makes the reveal one of the main highlights of Gamescom 2025.
Marek Tyminski, CEO of CI Games, announced on his official Twitter account that the unveiling will take place on Tuesday, August 19, at 2 PM ET and 11 AM PT. This confirmation comes after the success of the 2023 title, which attracted over 5.5 million players by July 2025 and received a significant performance-improving 2.0 patch for the PlayStation 5 version. This success gives the sequel a solid foundation to build on, as CI Games aims for a bigger and more accessible experience.
The details released so far suggest that Lords of the Fallen 2 will include a single-player campaign while also featuring a shared-progression system for cooperative play. This could greatly improve the game’s replayability and social aspects, which are important in today’s gaming market. Additionally, the game is set for a 2026 release and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
However, one aspect of the announcement has faced criticism from the gaming community. CI Games has chosen to make the PC version an exclusive for the Epic Games Store at launch, meaning it will not be available on Steam at the same time. This decision has led to some backlash from fans, a common reaction in the industry when games opt for timed exclusivity. While many hope that the game will eventually come to Steam, this approach has left some fans unhappy. A formal launch date is expected to be revealed during Gamescom 2025.
