HoYoverse has officially revealed Lauma, one of the most awaited new characters for Genshin Impact. She is confirmed to be a five-star Dendro Catalyst user who will be launched in Version 6.0. Now that the game sets up transferring from Natlan, the desert nation, the marketing for the next region of Teyvat is indeed heating up, with Lauma in a significant role.
She is, however, immediately distinguished by her character design as she is the tallest female character in the game. Furthermore, she comes with a new Elemental Reaction. This one is called Lunar-Bloom, and unlike most other abilities, this one is triggered only by her Elemental Skill, making it a Dendro-focused counterpart to Navia’s kit. The more regular Bloom reactions a party triggers, the more stacks Lauma builds, increasing the damage of her Elemental Skill nearly exponentially. This mechanic suggests she will be a pretty strong support character, reviving older ones like Nilou who depend on the Bloom reaction.
In counter to some speculative talk in the community, official marketing has confirmed that Lauma will appear during the first half of Version 6.0. Expectedly, she will be made available on a banner with another new character, Aino, possibly making her available as early as September 10, 2025. This advance in releases propels players to have a clear objective for their in-game currency. Developers seem to hint at a connection between Lauma and one of the new characters set to be released: Nefer.
Lauma’s backstory is heavily tied to that of the newer region. A Frostmoon Scion and daughter of Hyperborea, a lost civilization, she belongs to a faction that openly opposes the Fatui on the new land Nod-Krai. Her tale is likely to be central to the major plotline, “Song of the Welkin Moon”, which will shape the world’s future direction in the game. Coupled with introducing new gameplay mechanics, such important lore references make Lauma a significant character in the Version 6.0 update.
