Google to end support for Steam on their Chromebook devices was a surprise to many, regardless of that, a Chromebook isn’t really that strong when it comes to power to play modern games. To add more on top of this, PC gamers just want the most stable and powerful hardware to tackle all their gaming needs, Chromebook was never able to provide this, let alone actually run complex software on their systems. Perhaps Google is planning some sort of foray into the gaming market with their own systems, but it is unlikely. We at Infinite Start will cover why this might be the case.
Google to end support for gaming
2022 was the year that Google announced some gaming related Chromebooks, but we can all assume what happened with that because nobody is talking about them. The company has been hellbent in trying to take over the gaming market, but every time they attempted to do so, they were never really successful, not with their cloud services, and not with their hardware. This is what happens when a search engine company tries to bite more than what it should, and if you couple that with tons of controversies surrounding it, things can get ugly. It is clear that they don’t want to deal with Valve.
Google alludes that they actually wanna try going for the gaming market in some capacity, but they don’t really seem to confident on it. We the changes happening to their ecosystem, it is clear that they wish to migrate to a more Android based approach. Perhaps the company thinks that mobile gaming is profitable, and they will shift their gears into a more desktop based app store, similar to what we have on phones but primarily for desktops. I really don’t know who the public would be for that, but they already have quite the history with making stuff for no public at all.
