Gears of War: Reloaded has just received a Day 1 update which is geared towards bringing numerous improvements to it’s gameplay as well as performance across both PC and console platforms. The patch also makes the controls more responsive on some devices plus making improvements to Gears of War: Reloaded’s online play and matchmaking while adding a myriad of quality-of-life enhancements to the game.

- Multiple crash fixes and incremental performance enhancements across PC and console platforms
- Resolved numerous gameplay, UI, and localization bugs – from controller input quirks to incorrect in-game text – for a smoother experience.
- Minor feature tweaks like improved handheld device support switching (mouse & keyboard mode) and refined settings behavior enhance overall usability.
- Consoles: The game now properly handles cases where in-game global power saving is disabled, but certain modes (campaign/versus) tried to use power-save features.
- Consoles: Fix for fire texture and animation isn’t shown properly in Campaign.
- PC: Fixed a persistent low-frame-rate issue when connecting a DualSense® controller to a PC.
- Handheld: Fixed mouse input issues on certain handheld PCs – the mouse sensitivity on handheld devices has been corrected to respond consistently.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential and genre-redefining action titles, Gears of War: Reloaded is a remastered version (featuring up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS, the entire multiplayer component plus all the technical updates you can expect from a state-of-the-art remaster) of the first Gears title made by Epic Games and released exclusively for the Xbox 360 back in 2006. Described as the “Definitive Edition” of the original game, Gears of War: Reloaded also supports cross-play between console platforms and PC.
You can get Gears of War: Reloaded for $40 but physical copies are only available on the PS5 version of the game. The remaster is also available as completely free for anyone who owns the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
The next entry in the series titled Gears of War: E-Day is currently confirmed for a 2026 release.
