Ahead of it’s launch on Nintendo’s handheld consoles on November 14, Bandai Namco has provided details on the framerate and resolution for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on both Switch 2 and Switch. On the Switch 2, when docked or in portable mode, the Unreal Engine 5 powered beat-em-up will run at a maximum resolution of 810p for gameplay while locked at 30 FPS. The resolution can also vary as dynamic resolution will be enabled on the Switch 2 version of the game. Also, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero supports HDR for Switch 2.
On the other hand, the game will run at a resolution of 720p when docked and at 480p in handheld mode for its main gameplay when played on the older Switch. The framerate is once again locked at 30 FPS and there will be no HDR in the Switch version of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero as well.
And while the resolution in both consoles are well below 1080p but considering that these are handhelds with much smaller screen sizes, the resulting pixel densities will be high enough for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero to look vivid and crisp on them regardless.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on the Switch and Switch 2 comes in three different editions–the Standard Edition costs $60 and includes the base game, plus the bonus character unlocks if you preorder it. Then there’s the Digital Deluxe Edition (available for $90) containing the game’s Season Pass which includes a total of four new DLC packs, over 20 additional playable characters and more.
And finally there’s the $100 digital-only Ultimate Edition that packs everything in the Deluxe Edition plus a few more neat extras such as Goku’s (Super) costume with power pole, 1 customization item which increases a character’s fighting ability and more.
You can pre-order Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on the Switch or the Switch 2 right now on all major online storefronts along with the Nintendo eShop.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero came out on 7th October 2024 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the PC platform. The beat-em-up was released to generally positive reviews from the critics and quickly became a huge commercial success with over five million units sold worldwide. Boasting the largest roster ever seen in a Dragon Ball game, Sparking Zero is also set to get all the characters from the latest Dragon Ball Daima anime as part of it’s two DLCs which would boost it’s playability even further.
