Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Receives Patch 1.08

With the new Death Stranding 2: On the Beach update, many players were apparently experiencing a camera issue that has been patched. Patch 1.08 is out now and download-able for the PlayStation 5. It is a small update, but the focus on technical stability is what keeps showing the company’s dedication toward improving this star-rated game.

Since its launch in June after more than five years following the original, Death Stranding 2 has had an impressive run earning high praise to win an accolade in OpenCritic’s highest-rated titles of 2025. The sequel gains support from its predecessor in abstract gameplay following, again, the walk of Sam Porter Bridges through some broken world. Much have been said in praise for its richly layered storytelling, talented cast, and notable improvements over the first game. This is a vision from Hideo Kojima, and some players noticed some stutter in the camera with respect to the environment as they moved around.

Attention fellow Porters! 📦

Patch 1.08 for DEATH STRANDING 2 has been delivered. This patch addresses an issue where the camera / environment would appear to stutter when in motion, alongside other minor fixes and improvements.

Patch 1.08 aims to resolve this specific visual gameplay concern so fluidly and steadily. The patch notes are short and sweet but do confirm that the camera stutter fix was the main focus for the update along with a few other minor fixes and gameplay improvements. This signals an active response from the development side to player feedback and shows prioritization of issues that actually affect their core experience.

While some may wish this patch would have brought some new content, it nevertheless shows how inclined Kojima Productions is to polish its existing game as much as possible. Kojima recently shared his studio’s philosophy on game design-the kind of philosophy that leads to extremes of opinion among players regarding the studio’s work. He believes that this polarization is important in terms of delivering games that are culturally significant and stands by his assertion of prioritizing artistic integrity over commercial viability. This small patch strengthens the studio’s commitment to quality and ensures that even technical details are in sync with the ambition of their artistic vision.
