Capcom is working to fix a series of major issues affecting players of Monster Hunter Wilds after a recent update. The newly released patch, version 1.021, has been found to cause game-breaking crashes under specific conditions, especially when players use Fast Travel or faint during a quest and return to a camp. The development team has acknowledged the problem and is preparing a hotfix, but they have not announced a release date for the corrective patch, ‘Ver.1.021.01.00.’
Despite these technical issues, the update did bring a notable amount of new content and improvements to the game. Players can now find a new appraisal item called the Glowing Stone, and a new Recoil Aim Assist option has been added. The patch also included a new feature for Appraised Talismans within the Melding Pot. In addition, the update fixed many bugs and made various balance adjustments to improve overall gameplay. This shows the development team’s commitment to refining the player experience.
Since its launch earlier in 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds has sold over 10 million units, a significant number within the first three days. However, the game’s momentum has slowed recently, with a drop in quarterly sales and a notable decline in its active player base on platforms like Steam. This has led to some criticism from fans regarding the pace of post-launch content, as players hope for more frequent updates to keep engagement high.
Looking ahead, the game’s director, Yuya Tokuda, has confirmed that future updates will focus on adding new content while also improving PC performance. A specific goal is to reduce CPU strain, a fix expected to come after the fourth major title update, currently set for winter. This ongoing commitment to optimization suggests that Capcom is dedicated to ensuring a stable and enjoyable experience for all players, even as they address the immediate challenges posed by the latest patch.
