If you are a gamer from India, you’ll be delighted to know that buying videogames just got even easier and more convenient as Steam has just added UPI support for Indian users as a payment method. Whereas earlier you could buy games with your debit or credit card, net banking or card services like Visa and MasterCard, the newly added UPI payment option will further streamline the process of purchasing games while also allowing all refunds to be sent directly to your UPI-linked account.
Also, during the many sale events on Steam, sometimes due to errors in banking transactions, the purchasing process simply used to fail but as Steam will accept UPI from now on, those types of errors may finally become a thing of the past besides greatly speeding up and simplifying the entire transaction process.
And while Valve hasn’t made any official statement regarding the recent addition of UPI in Steam, it could be in response to growing demands from gamers in India. It’s important to note that several other online retailers such as both Epic Games Store as well as Ubisoft Connect has already enabled UPI support when purchasing games or DLCs, so it was only a matter of time before Steam decided to follow suit.
