Peak has reached 5 million copies sold, according to the now formed Team PEAK clearly comprised of both AggroCrab and Landfall members alike. PC gamers are celebrating the success of Peak, as many seem to enjoy the good vibes the game has when it comes to forming a community around it. It might have been an accident, but its clear that the marketing behind Peak has been quite the successful campaign. By combining commonly used slang in the new generation, pushing it to the mass media streamers, and even having a low price, it seems that these are the keys to a commercially successful game. We at Infinite Start will cover this.

It is also clear that when the trend wave dies off, so does this game. The same happened with Schedule I, the same will happen to Peak, and to many other games that don’t really have much to give put on the table, aside from causing some mass hysteria. While massively successful in such a short span of time, it cannot compete with the likes of Undertale and other important games of the medium that have brought even more than just good use of market and economical success.
Games are art primarily, disregarding that fact will lead the industry on a dangerous path that can end in another crash. We are seeing thousands of live service games being killed, and when they die, they are gone for good. Art needs to be preserved in some shape or form, and while these live service titles do not do anything to contribute to general culture for the most part, they also deserve a spot in preservation lists. Peak can be preserved easily, as we are talking people have already done so, there’s nothing to worry about as this game won’t be lost.
