Monster Hunter Wilds devs are currently facing some massive harassment campaign coming from angry fans who are dissatisfied with how the game is optimized on PC. Developers are actually the victims, how many times will it be for people to understand that the ones who need to be harassed are the CEOs and suits who make the decisions? You don’t attack the messenger, but the one who actually sent the message. Doing campaigns like this against the wrong people perpetuates the vision that publishers, CEOs, and the “top dogs” of the industry are invulnerable. If you want to harass someone, which shouldn’t be done in the first place, at least hit the right people. We at Infinite Start are disappointed.
Monster Hunter Wilds devs aren’t at fault
Despite what the average internet user might say, developers are often not the ones at fault when it comes to a game doing poorly. Most of the time, the reason games are rushed are due to the people in business suits trying to make decisions about how the game should be and how quick it must go out the door to sell. Developers actually want to do their job, but most of the times they realize that the best way to do so, is to not work for big companies anymore and become an indie.
There’s a reason on why people like Hideo Kojima abandoned Konami, its because the place genuinely sucks to work at, and this is the majority of big game companies nowadays. If you are someone creative with a drive to do things, maybe it would be fair giving a shot to doing them independently, not many people can finance this or compete with the algorithmic nightmare that is the internet today, and this is why many companies keep exploiting developers who are just bound to the whims of detached from reality CEOs.
