Warhorse Studios is preparing to roll out a native PlayStation 5 version of its critically acclaimed RPG released in 2018, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Current data shows that the game is coming to the platform. This announcement is made as the studio now celebrates the success of the sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which is proving to be instrumental in garnering interest again in the franchise.
Originally released in 2019, the first iteration of Kingdom Come: Deliverance won several awards, including Game of the Year. While it has been playable on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility since the launch of that console, the current generation would indeed benefit from having a dedicated version, primarily in terms of performance, loading times, and, potentially, visual quality. The upcoming version was uncovered by the PlayStation Game Size Twitter account, which is tasked with identifying updates on the PlayStation Network.
It’s also happening right after the very successful launch for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 earlier this year. Based on the sequel’s success, it is sure to be one of the frontrunners for the best awards at the 2025 Game Awards. With that, the franchise also continues to spread its wings. Warhorse Studios devoted much of its time to continuing to support the sequel post-launch, including the most recent Brushes with Death DLC and two more planned stand-alone expansions. Such a time seems quite right now for a PS5 upgrade of the first game. It offers new players a very welcoming entry point into the series and brings old fans another way to experience the original story before new content comes for the sequel. No official release date has been announced yet, but speculation suggests that it might come soon, given its presence in the PlayStation backend.
