The latest patch in Dune: Awakening was aimed at making a host of changes in the Deep Desert and the Endgame section of the MMO and making them better in lots of ways and while it largely succeeded at doing so, the patch has also led many players to lose their bases and other in-game equipments. Developer Funcom has openly apologized for the heavy losses and have confirmed that they’re currently working to reimburse all of that including vehicles and other items which the players can expect to get back by the end of this week in Dune: Awakening, they’ve stated.
“We’re incredibly sorry that this happened and we want to acknowledge that this should have been handled better. We’ve changed our internal processes as a result of this and will be better in the future.”
“We are working to reimburse vehicles and items (to the best of our ability) to players who were impacted by this. You can expect the reimbursed materials, items, and vehicle components to show up in the in-game ‘Claim Rewards’ tab by the end of this week.”
And while this sort of error can definitely cripple a lot of the players’ gameplay experience for a good while, it’s also reassuring that the devs are doing all they can to recover what players have lost. Hopefully it all gets resolved pretty quickly without much hassle and causing major woes to the players.
In the same statement, Funcom also revealed that they’re working to make Arrakis a lot more fair experience for all players by removing cheaters or any form of in-game exploitation.
“Our primary focus, which continues over the next weeks and months, will be to remove all identified exploits (third party cheat engines, client hacks, or in-game exploitation of game mechanics). In addition, we will be hard at work improving the game, adding quality of life features, and addressing critical gameplay issues.”
“We have zero tolerance for the type of player behavior that has an impact on the experience of other players, and we will continue to focus on ensuring that players can enjoy the game as it is intended,” the devs stated. “If you see someone cheating or exploiting, please report them to us using the available reporting channels.”
Finally, the devs also apologized to players who lost their in-game resources due to the many bugs present in Dune: Awakening, and they’re also working to “better reimburse players for vehicle losses due to bugs.”
