Epic Games has officially revealed the long-awaited coming of Fantastic Four skins to Fortnite, which will be landing on July 25. The collaboration comes with new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie release, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and aligns the in-game launch date with the theatrical release. For veterans players and comic book fans, this addition is another gigantic milestone for Fortnite’s continuous saga of high-profile crossovers.
Competitive gamers will also have a unique opportunity to obtain these new MCU-themed skins two days ahead of their general release. The Fantastic Four Cup, taking place on July 23, welcomes four-man teams to compete against each other in various matches. Top-scoring members will receive the skins as a reward. This competitive position is placed to have hardcore teams demonstrate themselves and obtain these classic attire before they are mass-released.
The addition of Fantastic Four reinforces Chapter 6 Season 3’s persistent superhero emphasis. Up to this point, the season has already featured DC Comics characters such as Superman and Robin, and other Teen Titans such as Cyborg, who can be purchased in the Item Shop. The persistent reference to heroic characters lends depth to the game’s persistent storyline and provides players with numerous character choices from throughout the comic book realm.
Whereas initial teasers merely provided a look at the future new skins, later Epic Games distributed more elaborate photographs to accompany the Fantastic Four Cup announcement. In a subsequent follow-up post, the LEGO Fortnite account assured that LEGO-themed versions of those aforementioned new MCU skins would also be found in stock within the Item Shop on July 25, targeting the brick-built game mode enthusiasts as well. Epic Games has yet to make anything official regarding prices of individual skins or potential bundles. While there are unconfirmed rumors of a Fantastic Four-themed ride, Epic Games officially stated that another free ride, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, will be added with the upcoming Summer Road Trip event.
