Leaks have only hinted that Epic Games can introduce unprecedented changes to Fortnite’s Blitz Royale mode. Most surprising of those overhauls is perhaps the elimination of AI players and team size increases. If confirmed, the game will get more competitive and challenging to play.
Loolo_WRLD, a very reliable Fortnite leaker, tweeted that Epic Games would be keen on eliminating bots from Blitz Royale. The ban, it seems, was for one of the modes where teams get to play six-man squads rather than four-man squads as they currently do. This is consistent with earlier proposals by Loolo_WRLD for new modes and overall progression in the direction of more squads, which is suggestive of a change of direction towards strategy-type game.
These possible changes come on the heels of Epic Games’ growing emphasis on Blitz Royale. The mode was recently granted a four-week reprieve, so it is as much a part of Fortnite as ever today. The development team of the game also plans to offer sustained support in the way of the mere continuation of the flood of content in the form of new weapons, utility, and special marks on the map.
The effect of such widely-publicized adjustments can be enormous. Bot removal would increase the level of talent, and every game would be a real contest against human beings. That would be more competitive. In the meantime, the conversion to six-person teams would bring new strategic aspects, increased cooperative play, and much larger battles. For vets, that would be going back to a purer and harder battle royale experience, one that would illustrate how Fortnite can unleash its full potential as a strategy game. We can expect a lot more talk about this shift in the weeks to come as gamers wait for Epic Games to grant them permission.
