Through a display of skill and resolve, an Elden Ring Nightreign player known as Reddit user PotatoFoSho achieved a stunning “solo gremlin challenge” by conquering the game’s challenging boss battles using a character class deemed inadequate to the challenge. The feat, garnering much admiration in gaming circles and highlighted by PCGamer among other sources, displays significant proficiency with the complicating mechanics and character interactions in Nightreign.
PotatoFoSho’s challenge was not so much navigating through all of each boss solo single-player by himself with the Revenant alone. The Revenant, being a naturally support class of itself within the multiplayer setup of the game and characterized by its very weakness, is a solo challenge monstrosity of an obstacle. Avoiding this built-in flaw was a question of diligent and expert building of characters. The player detailed their Relic setup, optimized to deliver the maximum damage from the Revenant and an insurance mana pool for spell usage—survival and requirements for killing the punishment boss list alone.
It was accomplished in a week, not just a show of dedication but a respect for game speed. When they showcased this feat, PotatoFoSho generously shared tips with the Nightreign community that instructed other eager players to do the same. Tips such as keeping high-tier goals such as Cathedrals in order to seal more, keeping considerable value on farming big enemies early during Day 2, and keeping an early Starlight Shard priority so that the Revenant’s needed FP for spell use is kept available were shared.
This one-man win follows on the heels of the game community of Nightreign players eagerly anticipating more content being added to the game, as new character classes and bosses were hinted at for upcoming DLC. The game itself had already secured its success by selling two million copies on release day and moving up Steam’s “Most Played” list quickly, showing the long-lasting popularity of its ascetic aesthetic and rich world. PotatoFoSho’s success is a definite gauge of the amount of investment and innovation that such games are bringing in.
