THQ Nordic, as seen in a 40 sec video on YouTube, has formally issued the gauntlet for a huge virtual showcase event on August 1, set to make a huge disruption in gaming programming. Intentionally setting the calendar spot right after the whirlwind of Summer Game Fest activity, there is room for a clear void space devoted to its future lineup.
As a publisher known for its broad swathe of titles, including remakes, remasters, and new intellectual properties like the Elex series and BioMutant, THQ Nordic had a strong 2024. The top-of-the-line included the remake of Alone in the Dark, South Park: Snow Day, and remastered award winner Disney’s Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. While South Park: Snow Day was met with a polarized response, Alone in the Dark and Epic Mickey: Rebrushed were able to gain new fans as well as long-time fans.
After a decidedly muted first half of 2025, the August 1 announcement indicates a new cadence for THQ Nordic. A short, 40-second trailer on YouTube encouraged fans to expect big reveals. One of the games teased in the reel is Reanimal, Tarsier Studios’ upcoming game, its first new release since leaving the Little Nightmares series and Bandai Namco.
The showcase will also include teases for other interesting projects, such as The Eternal Life of Goldman and what seems to be either Wreckfest 2 or Wreckreation. Most eagerly awaited would likely be teasers about Darksiders 4 and the Gothic remake, both showcased in the teaser and which seem to be in the works for possible announcement of release dates.
The timing of Reanimal’s release is especially interesting since its release may coincide with Little Nightmares 3, the game currently in development by Supermassive Games. Gaming professionals will want to know whether or not the release placement of Reanimal is set to eschew direct head-to-head competition with Little Nightmares 3, and 2026 as a release date for Reanimal is possible in order to stand out from a probable 2025 release for Little Nightmares 3.
This August reveal has a lot to offer fans in the way of detailed information, especially on Darksiders 4, whose public outings have been fewer. The combined might of the Gothic remake and another title in the Darksiders franchise could be a robust slate for THQ Nordic going into 2026. Fans are invited to tune in on August 1 for in-depth information on these and other upcoming releases.
