The Nintendo Switch 2, which came out on June 5, has already sold over 3.5 million units so far, becoming the fastest selling hardware in the history of Nintendo. The company shared news of the massive success of Switch 2 in their official Twitter/X account, stating “#NintendoSwitch2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days, becoming the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever globally.”
In comparison, the first Nintendo Switch had sold 2.7 million units around the first month of the console’s release. Also, the huge sales figures are made possible in large part by the total available stock of the new console, which has also been the highest in Nintendo history.
According to The Game Business, the Switch 2 has also become the fastest selling Nintendo console in UK, ever.
The Nintendo Switch 2 also has a fairly large assortment of launch titles that will have players’ hands full during the console’s release month and beyond, including obvious hits like Mario Kart World, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild and many more.
There are three types of games for the Switch 2, first are the regular, native titles made specifically for the new console, second are the batch of Switch 1 titles that will be backward compatible on the new Switch 2 and lastly there are enhanced titles which are originally from the Switch 1 era but will arrive on the Switch 2 with vastly enhanced features including boosted framerate and improved visual fidelity.
The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch LCD screen that can display all games at 1080p resolution, however, the Switch 2 Dock will also be able to output video up to 4K resolution and run games at up to 120fps which is great news for anyone looking to get the best possible visual experience on a handheld.
The handheld console also has NVIDIA DLSS support which enables the Switch 2 to offer up to 4K resolution while keeping game sizes much smaller.
