Steam is suffering from “Slop Spam” and many games that are being uploaded as simple indie titles are in reality games stolen from Itch.io. “AI” bros use these “poaching” methods as the call them, to start selling a game that is free by just stealing it with a script. If you are an indie developer that works on Itch.io its important to be aware of this, everyone can fall victim to them. Steam is doing their best to ensure that whatever is being uploaded is not “Slop Spam” by mysterious LLCs, but its getting harder each day. We at Infinite Start will cover this fact.
Steam is suffering an “AI” bro invasion
Its very common to these scammers pick up games that have been released recently on Itch.io, Steam does what they can to combat this, but they should clearly update their green light process to ensure that only quality content gets in. To ensure this can go through, its important to ensure that only games made by people get into the store front, failure to do so will keep reducing the quality of the Steam catalogue, making other competitors such as GOG more desirable in the long run. Or even better yet, people will move to Itch.io.
Steam is suffering a severe drop in quality these years, and the only way to solve it is enforcing proper controls upon what is uploaded, they have the ability to do so, but they use it against games that come from Japan for the most bizarre of reasons. If they can do it against Japan, things should be fair and they should start banning and removing games made with “AI”, they should employ more people in the green light process if they wanna keep succeeding in this ever changing industry, they are one of the last bastions of quality gaming.
