Resident Evil Requiem might be quite the experimental title on PC. Not only is it a game that grabs the best from the franchise, by referencing a lot of media that fans adore, but it also decided to take the bold approach of being both and first and third person shooter. This is a first in the franchise, and the first person perspective can enhance the horror vibe of this new spinoff. There really isn’t much to say so far, and depending on how it goes, this can make or break the whole game. We at Infinite Start will cover this ambitious proposal.
Resident Evil Requiem goes ambitious
Resident Evil Requiem is pretty much a spinoff, but it will also be relevant to the whole canon of the Resident Evil series. Trying to add new things to a spinoff is the best way to go when it comes to innovating upon a franchise. Changes over mainline titles can be met with controversy, and if you lose your primary fanbase by killing the spirit of your game, they will never come back to you. Many games have died to the modernization plague, an example would be the Final Fantasy series of today.
Even Square Enix agrees that they don’t see a future for it, aside the highly popular MMO. Capcom swiftly solves the issue by dropping experimental changes on a spinoff, which won’t really affect the mainline series further from what it is. Many players still miss the camera angles that Resident Evil lost after the original first trilogy, no newer titles were made with that style in mind. While some new people in the hobby might think its a limitation of the hardware, it was actually a stylistic decision.
Unfortunately, not many gamers are well versed in the vast world of gaming that has been going on for generations now. Resident Evil Requiem will drop in February 27th of 2026, if we are alive to see it that is.
