Overwatch 2 Announces Season 17: Powered Up Blizzard Entertainment officially announced Overwatch 2's new Season 17, which is titled "Powered Up," with ample new content and dramatic improvements to the competitive aspect of the game. The new season will bring in an intriguing blend of cosmetic materials, new playable maps, and interactive in-game events, all aimed towards revitalizing the gameplay experience. Leading with the cast of Season 17 are two iconic Mythic skins from the get-go. Gamers are in for the Horang D.Va straight out of the box, an epic one that reimagines favorite M.E.K.A. pilot D.Va as a ferocious Siberian tiger spirit, exuding breathtaking fury. Adding to this is the Reaper's Steel Death Mythic Weapon skin, bringing a dark ominous energy to the character's legendary shotguns, providing a new fresh look to fans of the mysterious damage dealer. In addition to these premium cosmetics, the shop and Battle Pass will also feel retro with 8-bit skins on heroes like Reinhardt and Genji, while Overwatch Academy-inspired skins on Cassidy and Junkrat provide players with various customization choices. Overwatch 2's architectural landscape is also augmented by the addition of Aatlis, a fresh Flashpoint map, introducing new strategic possibilities and battles. Further, familiar maps Esperanca and Samoa have also been thoroughly rebalanced for a Stadium mode, infusing these beloved battlegrounds with new vitality. A welcome quality-of-life feature for competitive players comes with the introduction of Map Voting in Competitive Play. This feature allows players to collectively select between a selection of three maps displayed at random, forming a more player-focused competitive experience. Season 17 will also contain a series of limited events that will guarantee a dynamic and active community. "Powered Up Event" and "Hacks & Hijinx" are already on the books, the latter featuring a new 6v6 Control mode with unconventional modifiers that offer unconventional and thrilling gameplay. All these additions as a whole promise a strong and thrilling season for Overwatch 2 fans.
