Modding tools for Stalker 2 require some crazy amounts of disk space. Most PC players don’t really have a PC that can hold that space for just some files alongside the rest of the system, perhaps the developers behind the tools should reconsider their approach and try to prune out the bloat from it. It would be cool if mods existed specifically to just reduce the games to simple demakes, be making the assets lose fidelity so they can run on pretty much every system, but the problem is the engines themselves. We at Infinite Start will cover this surprising reveal.
Modding tools for Stalker 2 are bloated
Its no surprise that in the current gaming landscape, things are pretty much bloated for everyone involved, both people who make games, and people who mod games. It truly is a disaster to see, but this is what happens when you rely to much on engines and stop trying to solve problems with code. Of course, this is expected when developers are pushed to release the game as quick as they can, disregarding how good or solid the title is from a coding perspective, crunch is a big issue in the industry.
It’s a lost art to optimize games nowadays, but it should be required if you really want to have sales in the first place, many triple A games are failing to meet expectations because the public is unable to play them. Stalker is a popular franchise, but it seems that bloat has taken ahold of it, much to the like of current games in the triple A space, they all merge together. Maybe the developers of the tools will find a way to compress the size in a significant way, but as long as this is the path that we walk in the industry, things will remain like this.
