Latest fan-shared edits of a Grand Theft Auto 6 screenshot have revealed to the fans the unprecedented look at the scale of Vice City, particularly the scope of its new open-world setting. These painstakingly crafted images, done by Jaxrud and uploaded by user FrozenFrost2000, focus on the Leonida Keys, which is a southern part of Vice City, and show geographical features that highlight the immense size of the game world. The images purport to show a map of “absurdly huge” scale, with obvious markings of enormous waterways like canals or rivers. The news has generated lots of anticipation within the gaming community, especially since the areas they highlighted are just part of the larger Leonida region.
Rockstar Games announced Grand Theft Auto 6 in December 2023 through a much-awaited trailer, which made initial disclosures about Vice City and its protagonist characters, Jason and Lucia. Even following a recent change in its release timeline, with the date of launch being moved to May 2026, the community is still actively involved in breaking down every piece of information available in an effort to understand the game’s final size. Rockstar had also planned enormous areas set to be included prior to that, including Vice City proper and the Leonida Keys, both heavily featured within the community-made screenshots. Other locations that were uncovered, such as Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga, weren’t apparent in these specific images.
The process of seeking information on Grand Theft Auto 6’s scope has been followed by a series of community efforts, such as one modder’s effort in 2024 to re-create the Leonida region. Even with a steady trickle of rumors and leaks, much of the game’s details remain unreleased, calling for patience from players until it publishes officially. Grand Theft Auto 6 will be launched on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S by the publisher and developer Rockstar Games and driven by their own Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE).
