Obsidian Entertainment has officially launched Grounded 2, where it announced its release this July to players. This was at Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and left everyone in an uproar, particularly with the assurance of users not having to wait too long before they are able to enjoy the newest iteration of the open-world survival adventure. The game will be arriving on Game Preview on the 29th of July, ensuring a more polished and intricate miniature world.
Based on what proceeded it, its July 2020 early access predecessor, Grounded 2 tasks players once again to enter into the dangers of a backyard universe from a singular, miniaturized perspective. While the original subjected players to the dangers of a known home universe, the sequel offers a “much larger” universe, relocating the environment to a new park. This game is meant to build on the co-op survival mechanics, inviting friends to join in and experience it side-by-side.
The reveal trailer provided a glimpse into what sort of environments players would need to navigate and flaunted an assortment of new equipment required in order to fight off more insects. Shields, knives, and bows are to be used by the players as a means of trying to keep themselves safe. There were also plenty of nasty-looking animals on display inside the trailer, including strong praying mantis, menacing spider, killer scorpion, and a caterpillar. Some of the bugs are mounted, and there are chances for strategic fights.
The Grounded 2 game preview will be on both Xbox Series X/S and PC. In addition, Obsidian Entertainment announced that the game will be an Xbox Game Pass day-one release, thus making it easily available to subscribers upon its Game Preview launch. This type of strategic launch positions Grounded 2 to immediately achieve a wide user base of players hungry for its wider scale and enhanced survival mechanics.
