During the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has hinted on the next installment of Forza arriving sometimes in next year, which is also the 25th anniversary of the Xbox console. Many players had hoped to see the next version of Forza Horizon at this year’s Xbox Showcase but there was no mention of the title however according to Spencer, it’ll be released by the time of next year’s Xbox Showcase:
“I’m excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the Next Forza, Gears of War E-Day, and the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning.”
And as the last released Forza title was Forza Motorsport that came out in 2023, it only leaves Forza Horizon 6 as the game hinted by Spencer which makes sense cause it’s been over four years since Horizon 5 came out so the next title in the series is kind of in the schedule.
Of course, releasing a follow up on the massively successful Forza Horizon 5 is always a tall order and it’ll definitely be interesting to see how developer Playground Games manages to outdo themselves with Horizon 6.
In other news of Forza Horizon 5, Playground Games’ Co-Founder has recently claimed that the arcade racing title has made more revenue than the latest installment of Gran Turismo, even before it was released on the Sony platform.
“If you look at the revenue earning of [Horizon], it beats Gran Turismo, F1, Need For Speed and The Crew put together. That’s before Horizon went over to PlayStation. That’s massive. I think what that’s done to the market, though, [is] all the other racing developers are now copying a lot of that Horizon formula.”
Forza Horizon 5 was released for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Game Pass in November 2021, while also launching for the PlayStation 5 on April 29 this year. The game received wide critical acclaim upon release and is currently one of the most well-reviewed titles in the racing genre.
