In a recent Reddit AMA, developer Funcom has shared part of their planned post-release roadmap for Dune: Awakening and has revealed that the post-apocalyptic survival MMO is set to get major updates in regular intervals of three to four months. All of those major updates will be completely free and will feature whole new story and PvE contents that will add more playability to Dune: Awakening. Also, those free updates will be released side-by-side with all the paid DLC’s slated to come out for the game, which can be bought either standalone or through buying the game’s season pass which contains all of them in a bundle.
Funcom also added that Dune: Awakening will receive new PvE maps for all players to explore in future, although it wasn’t mentioned whether those will be part of the game’s major updates and will be for free or be part of the game’s several paid DLCs. The game is about to get an update early July that will include “too many” quality-of-life changes, indicating a massive incoming patch for Dune: Awakening.
The devs also shared insights on several aspects of the game such as vehicle balancing, PvE encounters and many more while also letting players know that further adjustments in vehicles are on their way to the game:
“The current balance between vehicles and on-foot is not tuned to our liking and there are multiple changes in the pipeline to address this.”
In other news of Dune: Awakening, Funcom has recently released a new patch titled 1.1.0.15 for the game which brings an array of balancing changes, bug fixes and other improvements. Check out the patch notes below:
- PvP zone respawn times have changed: the first respawn now takes 70 seconds, and each one after that takes 115 seconds
- The Dvyetz Ornithopter Engine Mk5 Schematic has been removed from loot drops since it’s no longer in use
- A new pop-up notification will appear when players access the private servers tab
- Improved server and client stability
- Players must now manually type “Respawn” to confirm a respawn
Dune: Awakening has been a huge hit on Steam since release with a record 140000 concurrent players along with the devs confirming the game’s release on the consoles sometimes next year.
