Developer Funcom has officially announced that their recent MMO Dune: Awakening has sold 1 million units, making it their fastest selling game ever. The studio celebrated the news in an official post in the game’s Steam page: “Greetings Sleepers, Dune: Awakening launched June 10th and 1,000,000 players have awakened! It’s now Funcom’s fastest selling game ever. To put it into perspective, it took Conan Exiles one year to reach this number. We’re truly humbled and thankful for this reception.”
Funcom added, “Launch has been a Coriolis storm, and we’re still riding that mighty gale. We have seen so many amazing things from all of you – the bases, the close calls with Shai-Hulud, the epic vehicle jumps, the struggles, discoveries, victories, heroic deaths, and so much more…”
“Today we commemorate these Deeds and Deaths in this infographic. We salute you, Sleepers.”
Dune: Awakening has also hit a concurrent player count of 189,333 players on Steam, which easily puts the game as one of the most played titles in 2025, along with a “Very Positive” User Ratings on Valve’s platform. All of these certainly marks the game as one of very best titles to come out of this year, with sales numbers clearly on their way to grow even higher in the coming weeks and months as the devs continue to make it better in every way.
Funcom’s MMO is also slated to receive major updates in an interval of three to four months which will add whole new elements into Dune: Awakening, making the overall gameplay experience even richer and varied, besides being completely free. The game is also set to undergo a huge shift in it’s endgame section as the devs will add a lot more PvE-based elements instead of the massive number of competitive PvP sections the game features right now, making an interesting turning point in the progression of Dune: Awakening, besides making the game a lot more accessible to more players.
