The latest installment in the 2020 open-world action blockbuster Ghost of Tsushima by Sucker Punch, Ghost of Yotei, has already made a splash among gamers. The game has topped the pre-order charts on the PlayStation Store in the US, UK, and other regions, indicating high anticipation levels for the next installment of the samurai saga, as reported by Push Square.
Released 300 years later than the original game’s narrative, Ghost of Yotei has a new hero named Atsu who wishes to avenge her family’s death. Players will explore Japan’s northern Enzo region using a mix of classic action and stealth gameplay mechanics that served Ghost of Tsushima so well. Atsu will fight using the same katana she lodged in the tree earlier, and new gameplay mechanics like a matchlock rifle for the long-distance fighting will add a fresh twist to the tested gameplay.
The story of the game will differ from the original in that it will have a non-linear campaign that has a branching story, offering players a new experience. The base game Ghost of Yotei will cost $70, while its Deluxe version will cost $80. Pre-order started towards the end of last week six months before its launch on October 2 on the PlayStation 5.
Ghost of Tsushima was a bestseller on the PlayStation 4, followed by an enhanced PS5 version in 2021 and a PC version in 2024 shortly. It has found gaming success across its video game genre, with a live-action film directed by John Wick helmer Chad Stahelski and an anime series based on the game’s online multiplayer mode, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, currently in production.
Shuhei Yoshida, who is a former Sony and PlayStation executive, has commended Ghost of Yotei for its lag-free and smooth gameplay experience, creating more fan excitement. The gaming community is eagerly anticipating the launch of Ghost of Yotei, looking forward to another engaging and immersive experience from Sucker Punch.
