Gears of War: Reloaded is releasing soon in 2025 according to Microsoft themselves. PC gamers have been waiting for a new entry of the legendary series for years. The name implies that this game is clearly a remastered or remake version of the original game, which is neat for those who didn’t get into the series. Back in the day, Microsoft decided to buy this series from Epic Games, but they never did anything good with it. People miss the good old days when Gears of War was all the rage way back in 2006, and understandably so, the game was highly acclaimed. We at Infinite Start will cover this new release.
Gears of War takes the safe route
Let’s be honest, its not surprising that we are in the period of remastering old games from the early 2000s now. The catalogue is thinning, and now the early 2000s are considered retro, which makes me feel old but it is what it is. Past year was the 20th anniversary of Cave Story, for those who didn’t know and also wish to feel old with me. Leaving game historian things aside, its neat yet depressing to see that the only thing people are hyped about are remasters of perfectly fine games.
It is my take that remasters and remakes should be reserved for games that were initially bad, that way it becomes possible to revisit and fix them. Alas, like always, companies just want some quick bucks from nostalgic fans while tourists wish to play the most up to date and realistic version, disregarding the art direction and other changes. We can hope that the industry reconsiders their current moves, but we live in a timeline where games aren’t treated as art by big corporations.
