Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has managed to break a milestone. This PC port sold more than 500k copies around the world, and it truly seems to be succeeding. This blast from the past garnered massive success when it was a 3DS title, and now it seems to be repeating its fate of being quite the appealing RPG for many. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time was highly innovative for its time, and its mechanics meshed well together. Combined with the real time clock of the DS family of systems, and the friend list mechanics, there was things that needed to be changed when porting it to PC.
Fantasy Life is now on PC
Many players wonder how they would implement the job changing mechanics in this one, and it seems that you are actually forced to job change by the game itself. This is unfortunately the only aspect that harms this PC port when it comes to gameplay. People loved to be able to change their jobs whenever they wanted, but for some reason this is not possible on PC. Along with this, there’s tons of issues when it comes to the Kernel Anti Cheat problems.
It makes no sense that an old game like this is trying to install some sort of anti cheat system, there’s really nothing you can cheat on here. This feels like a half baked excuse to harvest some data with a rootkit, which should be avoided at all costs. Despite this, people don’t seem to heed to the warnings when trying to get games like this downloaded on their PC.
Sometimes, this breaks compatibility with Linux, and it truly is a bummer since pretty much every game without an anti cheat software works on Linux. People just want to have fun with titles they remember, and it seems that getting your 3DS ready for Fantasy Life again would be the better choice.
