DOOM The Dark Ages is a disaster on the Steam Deck. This means that people wanting to play the portable option have been screwed out of a cool game. PC players keep winning with the cool releases, however, Steam Deck users also need to accrue a win. If a game works perfectly on the Steam Deck, then it means that it has been properly optimized, and at the same time, it also means that Linux users can play the game without trouble. Having a high end gaming PC seems to be a must to run the newer iteration of DOOM. Quite ironic considering most of the saga can run in a potato. We at Infinite Start will cover this disaster.
DOOM The Dark Ages flops in portable
Unfortunately, we live in an era of games being broken as a standard, patches will eventually fix things is what publishers tell us. Back then however, we were able to get full games that could be finished from beginning to end. While updates were a thing, they were very rare, and often times they got turned into sequels that massively improved upon the original. Now we just have single player games that last quite a while without a new entry, yet they keep being constantly updated.
It is an advantage for the consumer not having to actually pay for what would essentially be an update, however, one can’t help but miss those days the gaming landscape was filled with creativity and discovery. While there’s no proper statements made about the Steam Deck situation solution, we can assume that one might be on its way. DOOM is loved by many, and it saddens many players that they won’t be able to take a good game on the go, players need answers to this issue soon.
