As big as Assassin’s Creed already is, looks like it’s going to get even bigger and possibly wilder cause according to Insider Gaming, there are a total of 9 Assassin’s Creed games that are currently in development. Among these unannounced titles in the longstanding Assassin’s Creed series, two of them are full blown Open World RPGs in the same vein as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, 3 are Remakes of earlier games, 1 rather ‘smaller experience’, 2 Multiplayer games and finally 1 title that’s exclusive to mobile devices.
Ubisoft’s main strategy for the Assassin’s Creed series is to release an Open World RPG title like Origins or Odyssey once every 2-3 years, with smaller experiences and Remakes in between, to help keep new gamers invested in the franchise.
In terms of a possible roadmap of the incoming titles according to their order of release, Assassin’s Creed Jade is likely to be the next game in the series after Assassin’s Creed Shadows and is set in China. After that, there’s Invictus which is currently the working title for a competitive multiplayer spin-off game which aims at engaging up to 16 players per match.
Then there’s Obsidian which is the reported remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and is built using the new Anvil engine. Black Flag is one of the most cherished and highly rated entry in the franchise and the upcoming remake is sure to enhance the original experience in tons of new and unexpected ways. Obsidian is expected to release in the same year as Invictus.
Next up is Hexe which is another working title that’s currently scheduled to release after Assassin’s Creed Shadows reaches the end of all post-release contents. Hexe will also reportedly have a full year of DLC support after release.
After that it’ll be time for Scarlett which is set to be next big Open World RPG entry in the series and will arrive after Hexe has reached the end of all post-release game contents. A title that’s massive in scope and currently in full production, Hexe is speculated to take place in three different regions–India, the Mediterranean, and the Aztec Empire.
Stardust is the codename for the next entry in the franchise and the second remake of an older title in the series that’s currently unknown as of yet.
Emerald is the follow-up title after Stardust and will be another multiplayer-focused experience with at least a five-year plan. And after that it’s time for RPG 3 which is yet to have an assigned codename or even a working title but is supposed to release two years after Scarlett arrives.
And lastly, there’s Remake 3 which is yet another title without a codename but will be another remake that’s slated to launch a year after RPG 3 comes out.
