Subnautica Sequel Dumps Iconic Cyclops Submarine

Subnautica 2 Dumps Iconic Cyclops Submarine

The follow-up to the award-winning Subnautica series will go down a different route, ditching the inclusion of some of the most recognizable vehicles from the original game. Subnautica 2 will not have the popular Cyclops submarine, or other recognized modes of transport, according to Design Lead Anthony Gallegos. This intentional omission underscores a commitment to offering up new mechanics and a refreshingly new experience for players venturing into the game’s new alien oceanic world.

Although the removal of the Cyclops will no doubt be a favorite among veteran players, Gallegos has given hints as development continues for creating another such colossus vehicle for man. Little about the new sub has been written as of the present date, though the temptation to guide another such leviathan into new depth will no doubt recruit players to the game.

In addition to vehicle upgrades, Subnautica 2 will feature a groundbreaking genetic modification system. This fascinating aspect will allow players to tinker with the genetic code of the alien creatures, hence opening them up to new capabilities and adaptations. This aspect could potentially introduce a massive degree of strategic depth into the core survival game loop, inviting experimentation and adaptive problem-solving based on the demands of the new biome.

The world of Subnautica 2 is different from that of Planet 4564b, exposing players to a whole new alien world with new, unknown life. The sheer diversity of creatures, ranging from the tiny to the gigantic, will require players to learn and adapt in a guarded manner. A set of tools like the Biosampler to learn and study the new biology of this planet will be available to offer a sense of exploration and evolutionary interaction.

In active early access development, Subnautica 2 gives players a glimpse of its world that’s being constructed. Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s development team continues to build out the game, with sporadic releases of new biomes, creatures, craftable objects, and story branches to be promised as development progresses. Its emphasis on cutting-edge mechanics, an original narrative thread, and a rich, unexplored alien world puts Subnautica 2 as a potentially revolutionary entry into the survival adventure genre.
